Exploring Life in Concentration Camps through a Visual Analysis of Prisoners’ Diaries

چکیده

Diaries are private documentations of people’s lives. They contain descriptions events, thoughts, fears, and desires. While diaries usually kept in private, published ones, such as the diary Anne Frank, show that they bear potential to give personal insight into events emotional impact on their authors. We present a visualization tool provides Bergen-Belsen memorial’s corpus, which consists dozens written by concentration camp prisoners. designed calendar view documents when authors wrote about life. Different modes support quantitative sentiment analyses, we provide solution for historians create thematic concepts can be used searching filtering specific entries. The usage scenarios illustrate importance researchers memorial visitors well commemorating Holocaust.
